The Seattle Seahawks delivered a knockout blow to the San Francisco 49ers Sunday as they eliminated the 49ers from the playoffs.

“We played team defense and that’s the way you play championship football”
The Seahawks, led by Marshawn Lynch, are now positioned perfectly to land the No 1 seed in the NFC. The Seahawks play the Rams and Cardinals the next two weeks.

“We can only control what we can control and so we’re focused on us,” receiver Doug Baldwin said.

Speaking on the chance for the NO1 seed head coach Pete Carroll said:

“I don’t care about that stuff right now. We have two more games to play and we have one more game that’s at hand right now. That’s all we got. The rest of it doesn’t matter.”

The first half of the game was sloppy on both sides but the Seahawks turned the screw in the second half. Lynch set the tone with his physical running on offense and the defense held the 49ers to just 67 second half yards as they sacked Colin Kaepernick 6 times.

The 49ers lost to the Seahawks for the fifth time in 6 tries and are now eliminated from the playoffs for the first time in Jim Harbaugh’s four seasons with the team.

“I don’t want to get too far out in front of our headlights,” Harbaugh said. “We’re going to focus all our energy on this week.”

The 49ers lost both Frank Gore and Chris Borland to injuries before the half.

Gore’s backup Carlos Hyde was also injured in the third quarter.

“We didn’t give up any yards, we just played our way,” Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett said. “We played team defense and that’s the way you play championship football.”
