“It’s a lot of fun but it can also make you really nervous,” said Sara Spielman, a member of the U10 team.
The Norwalk Packers Under 10 and Under 13 Cheerleading teams are putting the finishing touches on their routines for the National Championships in Orlando, Florida on December 13th. “It’s exciting. I’m counting on my team and our coaches are counting on us. We got this!” said Summer Hall, a member of the Packers U13 team. Last year, both Packers teams made history, walking away from Nationals as champions and now they are going back to do it again.
U13 member Jacki Moses said, “It is kind of nerve racking but it is also really exciting.” U13 Head Coach Anne Aguia-Asta said, “We have been slowly getting all the experience and working really hard.”
Since August, both teams have worked on stunts, cheers and jumps and have won local and regional titles along the way.
The girls say practice makes perfect before taking the mat in Orlando.
Claudia Stuart, a member of the Packers U10 team said, “When it is a couple of weeks or days before competition, practices get harder because we have to focus and make sure we get very thing right.”
And at the end the day, the Packers have each others backs.
“We are like a family and they are just so much fun,” said Moses. Both teams will depart for Orlando from Norwalk, by bus on Wednesday, December 10th. You can still help the team with their trip to Florida by sending donations to:
